TEACHING AND LEARNING

At Ballan Primary School our core business is Teaching and Learning which provides every student the opportunity to achieve their best.

Our beliefs and understandings about Teaching and Learning are:

All children can learn if given support relevant to  their needs.

Children need to be provided with a secure and affirming environment where each child is valued and has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Children need to be engaged in challenging learning activities in a stimulating environment.

Children need to develop the ability to think clearly, independently and creatively to be able to be adaptable in an ever
changing world.

Assessment needs to be a positive and ongoing process and be used to inform teaching and learning.

Adequate resources should be provided to support Teaching and Learning.

Teaching and Learning is always a priority at Ballan Primary School.
We focus on continuing to enhance our Literacy and Numeracy programs across the school.  We also teach and include THINKING SKILLS into our programs and use TECHNOLOGY as a tool for learning across the curriculum.

Our school follows the Victorian Curriculum which provides the framework for our curriculum.

We  also follow Government guidelines regarding Homework. The Policy is sent home in  the Information Pack.
All year levels have a weekly Homework program. Details are provided in Team  Newsletters.

We  have a formal reporting program, which provides information regarding student progress. Two written reports are sent home during Terms 2 and 4. Interviews are held early Term 1 and Term 3.
