Communication

For communication between school and families our school uses Xuno. We encourage all parents/ guardians to download the Xuno app on their phone or log in through a web browser. Once logged in, you can follow your child's progress reports, book parent - teacher interviews, authorise and pay for upcoming events and access attendance.

Xuno is our main communication portal.

School Attendance

Once your child is enrolled, they are required to  attend school until they are 15 years of age.  They are expected to be at school on time for each school day, unless they are sick.

If children are absent, the school's office must  be notified via Xuno, website form, in writing or by phone, stating the reason for their absence.

Research indicates that a child who is absent for  more than 10 days in any school year is at educational risk.
At Ballan we believe in the philosophy that it is not OK to be away!

Early Departures And Late Arrivals:

When you pick your child up  early they need to be signed out at the office.  The book also needs to be completed if your child returns to school or arrives late at  school.

Parents & Friends Group

We have a wonderful group of parents and friends who kindly donate their time and skills to raise important funds for the school.  So far these fundraising efforts have financed the Life Education Program, subsidised many excursions and incursions and our paved garden between the art room  and the Foundation / 2 Building.

More volunteers are always welcome so please don't hesitate to join us at our next meeting, dates are announced weekly in the newsletter.

Bus Services

Two school buses operate to and from  Ballan  Primary  School:

  • Bus 1 runs between the school and Greendale.
  • Bus 2 serves the Mt. Wallace and Bunding  areas.

To be eligible to use the bus service, students  must live at least 4.8 km from the school on the bus route.
Parents need to sign a permission form to access the service.
Due to insurance issues, non bus travellers who need to use the bus  occasionally must  have a written request from their parents addressed to the bus supervisor at  least two days before the date of intended travel.  Forms and relevant information are below.

Uniforms

We take pride in our uniform at Ballan Primary School.  We feel that a uniform creates a sense of unity and cohesion amongst the children and can be worn with pride.

The uniform consists of a royal blue polo shirt and windcheater, available from the school with the school's logo.   Navy blue or royal blue shorts, trousers or school skirts can be worn.  In summer girls can wear a standard navy blue and white gingham checked summer dress.   During the colder months students can also wear one of our new logo bomber jackets.

In accordance with our SunSmart policy wide brimmed hats must be worn during the warmer months, starting from September 1st.

Uniforms and other accessories, such as hats, can be purchased from the front office.

Please refer to "Policies - Administration" for school's uniform policy.
